Covid-19 -our response
During the Covid-19 Crisis, we have had to take some significant decisions on how we keep butterflies working and effective at the time of great need and support. We remain fully committed to the provision of bereavement support services throughout these difficult times.
Reluctantly, the board of Trustees made the decision to close down the group sessions on a rolling basis before we were guided to do so, and this was done so that we could establish a clear support network for our clients who attended these groups. This has been achieved and all those who have attended groups now get twice weekly phone calls from their respective team volunteers.
Our Counselling and Listening services have also undergone some changes to work within the advice of Public Health and HM Government. For the duration of the crisis, we are undertaking telephone and facetime support for anyone who benefits from person centred support and all those undertaking these sessions have relevant professional experience.
We have space for more counselling and listening sessions available as needed and a very small waiting list – call us or send an email
Additionally, we have launched a listening service for those who are lonely with no close family to ensure that they are not alone and have someone who phones for a chat and provides a link with the outside world.
Because we wanted to be able to keep groups together and then add others to these groups once they re-open – and they will re-open when the Government allows this, we have now created two virtual cafes for people to gather and chat whilst having coffee at home, this is a proactive way of encouraging virtual social inclusion at a time when we are all expected to stay at home and not socialise. https://zoom.us/j/7480523268
We also have two online support groups – one for generic bereavement and another to support those who are bereaved through suicide. Contact us for access to these
Out of the current situation we have grown rather than rolled back our services and continue to provide significant resources and a point of contact to anyone who is bereaved either recently or over the years and advice and information on recent loss.
Butterflies is here for you and for the whole community.
